What is your Learning Style?

learning-lifestlyeA learning style is how a person understands or learns new information. Some people learn by reading a book, others learn by listening to someone, while others may learn by moving and creating. Everyone may have one or more learning style. The learning style which a person uses the most is called their dominant or intuitive learning style. How they may demonstrate their learning may in a different style than how they understand the information. Additionally, you or your child may have two completely different ways of learning. Understanding how a child learns can be beneficial to know when advocating or when helping your child learn something new. Your child may learn with the music on while you may learn in complete silence. Being cognizant of this information and understanding your child’s learning style may help avoid everyday arguments. You may need to:?Act out or perform the information or feeling, dance while learning, jumprope or exercising while remembering or learning information, use flash cards, use manipulatives or objects or create things.

Logical?(mathematical):?You prefer using logic, reasoning and systems. ?You may need to:?Create graphs or use graphs to understand information, use charts or diagrams when learning new information, make check lists and plan ahead to avoid stress, ask for clear directions to follow.

 

socialSocial?(interpersonal):?You prefer to learn in groups or with other people.?You may need:?Someone to sit with you while you learn or do homework and study at a coffee shop (with headphones) , work at the kitchen table while conversations are?occurring, turn TV on in the background while working and study using small discussion groups.

 

Solitary?(insolitarytrapersonal):?You prefer to work alone and use self-study. ?You many need to:?Find a quiet study area, go to a library, use headphones or find an isolated place to focus without any distractions.
